Editor’s Note

Hello Everybody!

Much has happened since the last newsletter! I hope I have covered lots of little snippets of all the happenings and general goings-on. Apologies for the lack of articles, there’s just too much news!
Enjoy the read,

Victoria “Tod” Seals.

Princess Ida

Ida Quartet
Well done to everybody involved with our production of Princess Ida 2012. I think we can all agree that it was a huge success! A special thanks to the very talented Martin Milnes, both for playing Hilarion so marvellously, and for his Pizza Night rendition of “Poor Wand’ring One”..... thats ‘one’ we won’t be forgetting for a while!

AGM

This year’s AGM was held on Tuesday 4th September.
We saw Fran Robson join the committee, Margaret Collingwood step down from the post of Secretary and Sue Norgate take up the challenge. We also saw 4 of our society members receive NODA Awards, and were honoured to welcome both Sue Du Pont and Jim Farr to present these awards.

AGM

Congratulations to Jim Barley, Pat Tegerdine, John Bill and our Chairman, Robin Richardson!

Wedding Belle

Sue Colman Congratulations to Sue Coleman (was Butcher) who married Mark on 8th September 2012. A Hen Party was held by some of the ENOS girls on the Wednesday before. I was not in attendance myself, but from the sounds of it, there was a lot of fun to be had....
particularly concerning some cringe worthy confectionary if my sources are to be believed!! Anyway, congratulations Sue, we all wish you and your husband much happiness in the future!

The Pirates of Penzance

Auditions for the principal roles of our May 2012 production, Pirates of Penzance, were held on 7th October 2012. The results are as follows:

Pirate King ................................................ Ian Robeson
Frederic ..................................................... To be cast
Sergeant of Police ...................................... Clive Swetman
Major General ............................................ Keith Swetman
Samuel ..................................................... Robin Richardson
Ruth ......................................................... Ros Swetman
Mabel ....................................................... Rachel Goodchild
Edith......................................................... Victoria Seals
Kate.......................................................... Tori Zglinska
Isabel........................................................ Anne Richardson

We are delighted to have Margaret Collingwood as our Stage Director, with Eric James as Musical Director and Ros Swetman assisting as Chorus Mistress.
It’s not too late yet to come along and join the fun, and we are still in need of additions to our band of pirates, our force of policemen and our gaggle of giggling girls, so please come along to rehearsals. If you know anybody who you think would fit one of those categories, please send them along too!

Tickets are available for Pirates of Penzance from The Maddermarket Theatre, now via three different methods:
By visiting the Box Office at The Maddermarket Theatre, St. John’s Alley, NORWICH, NR2 1DR
By Phone: 01603 620917
Or by visiting their website http://www.maddermarket.co.uk and purchasing through their new online ticket system!
Please make sure to tell all your friends and family to come along!

Peter Coward

All of us were very sorry to hear about the passing of Peter Coward earlier this year. A small note follows:

Thank You
I would like to thank members of ENOS for their support and lovely singing at Peter's Thanksgiving Service in Horstead Church at the end of May.
Donations given in his memory were sent to the 'Sparks 4 Hearts' appeal and raised £817.40.
This will enable additional treatments to be done in the heart department of the N&N hospital instead of patients having to travel to Papworth.

With Thanks

Sylvia Coward

A QUICK REMINDER TO ALL ENOS MEMBERS: SUBS ARE DUE, SO COULD ANYBODY WHO HASN’T PAID YET PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THEY DO!
MANY THANKS

MEMBER PROFILE - Sue Norgate

Sue Norgate
1. What was your first show with ENOS?
Iolanthe was my first ENOS experience ( we will blame Caroline for that one... come along for a sing she said you don't have to stay if you don't like us!!).

2. What was or is your favourite ENOS show and why?
Well I have to say Iolanthe... as a child I always had a love of fairies and as everyone knows during rehearsals and backstage at the Maddermarket I was just a TAD over excitable and had to be calmed down many times ( didn't I Anne !! ).

3. Your most disliked food.
SEAFOOD! To the point I cannot bear to be near anyone who is eating it!

4. Your favourite film or TV show.
'Schindlers List. I spent a large part of my childhood living in Germany as my father was in the Royal Air Force. I had the opportunity to visit Belson Concentration Camp and had the honour of meeting some survivors of the Holocaust... Even as a young girl this had a huge impact on me. Later as an adult I visited Auschwitz in Poland ( after seeing the film ) Although a harrowing and thought provoking experience it was interesting. On a happy note The Donkey in Shrek...and am quite partial to a horror movie too.

5. The part you would most like to play on stage (not necessarily G&S but anything, anyhow, anywhere).
A Ballerina... studied ballet from the age of four, somehow when I reached the age of 14 my height / weight ratio didn't look good in a tutu!! If I could turn the clock back I would like to have followed my dance dreams..

6. Any irritating habits, that is - your own.
Being a bossy boots ( so I am told ) can't see it myself ... LOL

7. Most embarrassing moment.
Honestly, walking through Jarrolds in Norwich and having a very kind lady tell me that I had my skirt tucked up at the back. ( you know what I am implying ) I just wanted a hole to appear in the ground.

8. Favourite animal.
DONKEYS... I have two, sisters Serena and Tazzy aged 21 and 23. I have had them for 3 years now..... They are such loving creatures and are great to 'stress buster' if you have had a bad day. However, they have an alarm clock built into them, so if you are late getting to them in the morning they let you know alright..... You can hear a donkey bray 5 miles away, so when they are a very short distance from your bedroom window an abrupt wake-up call can be experienced!!!

9 . First musical memory.
Hearing my sister playing Dave Clarke Five's ' Bits and Pieces' on her record player...

10. What did you have for breakfast (day not specified).
Most days its fruit to be honest. I am not a breakfast person really ( ok ok I know it's the most important meal of the day. )
